Arturo Castro of Wilmette, Ill., pleaded guilty on Monday to one count of use of an interstate facility to persuade a minor to engage in unlawful sexual activity, according to Deirdre M. Daly, U.S. Attorney for Connecticut.

According to court documents, in December 2013 Castro began communicating with the girl through the app "Chess with Friends." He used the app's chat option to ask the girl to send him naked photos, and enticed her to make videos of herself engaging in sexually explicit conduct and send those videos to him, Daly said. In March 2014, he came to Connecticut and engaged in sexual activity with her, according to Daly.

Castro is a citizen of Mexico and a lawful permanent resident of the United States. He has been detained since he was arrested on Dec. 13, 2016. He is scheduled to be sentenced on Aug. 28, and faces a minimum of 10 years and a maximum of life in prison.
