Police were called to Fairway Market on Canal Street at around 10:30 p.m. on a report of the pistol being found in the shopping cart, the Stamford Advocate reported. Police told the Stamford Advocate that three men had tried to purchase food at the grocery store, but after their credit card was declined they walked out, leaving the gun behind.
A nearby officer located the three men and detained them in the parking lot, according to the Stamford Advocate.
Omar Allen, 22, of Stamford was charged with criminal possession of a pistol or revolver, carrying a pistol without a permit and reckless endangerment, according to the Stamford Advocate. Kimoy McDonald, 25, and Jovoni Coombs, 27, both of the Bronx, were each charged with reckless endangerment, the Stamford Advocate reported.
