GREENWICH, Conn. -- A Greenwich postal worker helped to save the lives of twin 11-month-old boys from a blaze by catching them as they were dropped from a third-floor fire escape in the Bronx, N.Y., according to NBC Connecticut.
Everdean Codner and his wife were trapped on the third floor of their home when a fire broke out on the floor below, NBC said. Codner was unable to climb down the fire escape while carrying both of the boys, NBC Connecticut said.
Greenwich postal worker Jermaine Shirley, who is a neighbor, came to the rescue. Codner was able to drop his young sons to Shirley and get them to the ground safely, according to NBC Connecticut.
