GREENWICH, Conn. – A New York woman was arrested after allegedly leaving two young children unattended in a car for an extended period of time, according to Greenwich police.
Police issued Nancy Montaleza of Port Chester, N.Y., a misdemeanor summons for leaving children less than 12 years of age unattended in a car.
The children were unattended "long enough for officers to conduct a search and return to the car," according to Greenwich Police Department Communications Officer, Lt. Kraig Gray. The younger of the two children was reportedly 2.
Two Greenwich officers located the vehicle with the unattended children upon arrival and conducted a search of CVS, according to Gray. The officers returned and Montaleza reportedly approached the car.
She was asked by officers if she had left the children unattended and she replied, "yes."
Montaleza was released on the summons and is scheduled to appear Wednesday in Stamford Superior Court.
