The home had been vacant for an extended period of time, police said. The jewelry was reported missing by the home's caretaker. Police consider the incident an open investigation.
Here are recent police reports as provided by the Greenwich Police Department:
- Three Greenwich residents reported egg vandalism Saturday. Homes on Lake Avenue, Havemeyer Place and Ellin Drive had their front doors, porches and windows hit by eggs overnight Friday into Saturday. Police do not have any suspects.
- Two men were arrested outside of MacDuff's Public House on Sunday when Greenwich officers came upon a fight. Both men were injured and charged with disorderly conduct and third-degree assault. Both parties were released from custody and given a court date at Stamford Superior Court.
- A burglary was reported at a duplex on Strickland Avenue on March 14. A witness reported seeing a male suspect force his way into a residence. Police reported extensive damage to the front door. State police and a canine unit assisted in the investigation. Several thousand dollars worth of jewelry and electronics were reported stolen.
- A GPS was reported stolen from an unlocked vehicle in the garage of a home on Tomac Court on March 17. Valuables were visible in a car next to it, but nothing was taken. That car's doors were locked.
- An attempted burglary was reported on MacArthur Drive at about 7 p.m. Sunday. A suspect attempted to force his way through the rear door of the home before being scared off by a burglar alarm.
