Town officials told Greenwich Time that a review of revenue from the Parking Services Department more than a year ago uncovered a revenue shortfall, which prompted an investigation. That investigation revealed that 48-year-old Michael Gordon was pocketing money from fraudulent transactions, according to Greenwich Time. He would take cash from payments for parking violations, then credit them as non-cash transactions, Greenwich Time reported.

Gordon was arrested on Monday and charged with second-degree larceny, second-degree forgery and false entry by an office or agent, Greenwich Time reported. He was released on a $10,000 bond.

Town officials are continuing to investigate the matter, and studying best practices for the Parking Services Department, Greenwich Time reported.
