Greenwich Man Charged With Assaulting Woman And Stealing Her Purse

GREENWICH, Conn. — A Greenwich man was charged with knocking a woman down and stealing her purse as she walked home from the train station last November, according to Greenwich Time.

Police told Greenwich Time that the 33-year-old woman was walking home from the train station on the night of Nov. 30 when 28-year-old Aswad "Ozzie" Dummon began following her. He struck her from behind, knocking her to the ground, and then grabbed her purse, Greenwich Time reported. She tried to fight back, and then ran home screaming and called police, according to Greenwich Time.

Drummond was identified after he tried to use the credit cards from the purse at a nearby gas station, police told Greenwich Time. The cards had been canceled and were declined, but police were able to use surveillance footage to identify Drummond, according to Greenwich Time.

Police charged Drummond with robbery, assault, larceny, credit card theft, illegal use of a credit card and identity theft, according to Greenwich Time. He was held on a $100,000 bond.
