FAIRFIELD, Conn. A Greenwich man was charged with burglary after he was accused of breaking into a car on the Post Road in Fairfield on Sunday night, police say.
Witnesses told police that a man had entered a car parked outside the Old Post Tavern and take several items out, according to police reports. Peter Stevenson, 52, of Dairy Road in Greenwich was found hiding in a nearby alcove along Unquowa Road, police say.
Stevenson had two pairs of sunglasses on him that the cars owner reported stolen, according to the police report. A wallet, a GPS unit and other electronic equipment were also taken from the car, and found on the ground nearby. The total value of the items take was approximately $700, police say.
Stevenson was charged with third-degree burglary, a felony, and fifth-degree larceny, a misdemeanor. He was released after posting a $1,000 bond, and is due in court on Sept. 26.
