NORWALK, Conn. – A man was attacked by two dogs in South Norwalk on Monday night, leading police to use their stun gun on one of the dogs twice, according to witnesses.
Angel Dorleans was sitting in her home on Hanford Place when she saw two dogs biting a man in the street. The man jumped on her fence and eventually ran up onto her front porch, she said.
Dorleans ran out onto her porch to help the man, she said. The larger of the two dogs – which may have been pit bulls – was latched onto the man’s leg and would not let go, no matter how hard she tried to get him off, she said. She tried hitting him with a skateboard, a scooter and a chair and said the dog continued to attack.
Soon after, police arrived and attempted to pull of the dog. It took two shots from a stun gun to get the big dog off, Dorleans said. Police then took the dog away.
“The man had a wound the size of a tennis ball,” Dorleans said. “That shook me up. It’s going to give me nightmares.”
This is not the first time this dog has bitten people, Dorleans said. This is at least the fourth or fifth time that this dog has gone after a person, she said.
Police at the scene declined to comment.

Reading this and seeing how the dog had a grip on the guy and wouldnt release him, even after being hit with several items, it had to be a Pit Bull. And HOW can this dog still be around if it has attacked before? What are they waiting for, him to kill someone? What if it was a small child??? The owners of this dog are irresponsible pet owners, why was it running loose? There IS a leash law in Norwalk!!
I'll be looking for an update about this! Maybe the reporter can look into how many other people the dog has attacked? Has it attacked animals?
Tim you gotta chill,I agree with most things you say but until all the facts are in on this one this was a tough one to call.
The dog if reports coming in are accurate is the same dog that was stabbed by some idiot a few weeks ago.Maybe it was its time to be put down if you can't control a dog maybe its time to shoot it.
Now the area residents are saying complaints have done nothing to stop this voilent dog again lets see how it plays out in the media did the animal control officer have the weapons(court orders or laws) to do the job right before this sensless attack.
You may be right about the out of control crime and what the public is seeing is lax enforcement but lets work together I have no side but until all the facts surfice its hard to comment.
Could this of been prevented? maybe its the police depts fault,no they did an excellent job of controlling the situation and over seeing the cleanup the Norwalk Fire dept needs to be thanked they also stayed and put a closure to a horrendus event.
Tim you gotta chill
Think you are wrong in that one
OLD TIMER
Do they ever do anything right, in your opinion ?
NO which is clear by the out of control crime rate, the near zero violent solved crimes, the high turn over, and the many many officers themselves that have been arrested.
OMG!! scary!
Strange how years back long time Dog Warden Santo would handle these dogs with his bare hands..What do we have now a bunch of wimp cops that need to Taser the dog. What would the NPD do without these Tasers as they cant seem to handle any event without deploying them. This just goes to prove they are hiring the wrong people.
Years back dog warden Santo had special tools and carried a gun. He knew better than anyone NOT to try to grab a viscious dog with bare hands. The cops use tasers rather than shoot a dog with a gun, and you complain. Do they ever do anything right, in your opinion ?
Santo rarely had to use his gun because he was very adept with another device that put a choke noose on a dog from a distance, but he would not hesitate to use his gun when necessary.
Old Timer, and since the dog was not releasing the victim, the officers could not use the choke noose. That means they had to taser the dog.
And in answer to your question about the police doing something right, Tim T. will never, ever say that.
Paige
Please tell me what you are drinking as I would like some as you type and type but say ZERO...I guess you are use to that by now ZERO
Yet another troll alert
I would like to see Tim T attempt to handle an angry and vicious pit bull with his bare hands.
I would like to see you post something of some importance
Oh, so you are admitting that you couldn't handle an angry, vicious pit bull with your bare hands?
Go on, I double-dog dare ya...
I would suggest you learn how to read stooge as nowhere did I admit anything..Not very smart are you?
As usual, your insults say more about you than they do about me.
Is it your position then that you would have been able to handle this vicious animal with your bare hands?
No insults just pointing out a fact
$$$$$$$$
I guess since you won't address whether or not you can handle an angry vicious pitbull with your bare hands, you're no longer interested in the position of dogcatcher. Guess you lost your nerve. Too bad, I would have considered voting for you.
