GREENWICH, Conn. -- Officer Daniel Hendrie has been named the Greenwich Police Department's Officer of the Month for July.
According to a statement from Greenwich police, Hendrie and his wife were walking their dog near their home in Pawling, N.Y., on June 19 when a serious motor vehicle crash occurred. Hendrie immediately went to the aid of the driver, who was in traumatic cardiac arrest and trapped in the vehicle.
Despite the risk to himself, Hendrie was able to extricate the driver from the vehicle and begin CPR before emergency personnel arrived.
He continued to assist with care until the driver was transported to the hospital. Due to Hendrie’s actions the driver survived and is recovering from his injuries, Greenwich police said.
