The unidentified woman told police that after leaving her job at a sandwich shop on West Main Street, she was approached by a couple who asked for a ride to Stillwater Avenue, said Lt. Diedrich Hohn.

Once they arrived near the destination, the man showed the woman a gun and ordered she drive to her bank and give them $30,000 in cash, Hohn said.

The Hispanic woman, who needed help from a Spanish-speaking police officer to tell her story, said the couple seemed to know a lot about her family, so she drove to her bank and withdrew $1,500 in cash. After giving them the cash, they demanded she drive to her home on Court Street, she did so our of fear, he added.

At her home, she found additional cash and jewelry and gave it to the couple who then fled the area, Hohn said.

The cameras show the victim talking to the couple near her job, and also show her walking into the bank alone, Hohn said.

Hohn said the woman described the man as a Hispanic male, 5 feet 5 inches tall with a heavy build and wearing a beige fedora. The woman is described as being 5 feet 4 inches tall, 150 pounds with light skin and her hair pulled back.

Hohn said police believe the couple were part of a team of four people pulling off the scam, with the other two involved following in the dark Dodge minivan shown in the video.
