STAMFORD, Conn. -- A couple reported that they were robbed at gunpoint at around 5 p.m. Monday in Rotary Park in Stamford, according to the Stamford Advocate.

The couple told police that they were collecting cans and bottles in the park when two teenagers on bikes approached them and asked for some money, according to the Stamford Advocate. When they refused, one pulled out a gun while the other pulled out a knife, the Stamford Advocate reported.

The two youths were scared off when a police patrol car happened to drive up nearby Greenwich Avenue, and they rode away on their bikes, according to the Stamford Advocate. Police searched the area for the two teens but were unable to locate them, the Stamford Advocate reported.
