A neighbor called Greenwich Police and reported that two men were trying to break into a house across the street, police said. The witness stayed on the phone until officers arrived, where they discovered a broken window on a door entering the home's garage, police said.
Jimmy Fernandez, 36, and Diego Fernando Suarez Gonzalez, 38, came out of the home with their hands up and were arrested, police said.
Fernandez and Gonzalez also gave false names, driver's licences and ages to officers, police said.
When the two men's fingerprints were scanned at the Greenwich Police Department, their real identities were discovered, according to police.
Fernandez was found to have two active warrants for his arrest in New Jersey. He was charged with manufacturing/possessing burglar's tools, third-degree burglary, second-degree criminal trespassing, third-degree criminal mischief, criminal impersonation, second-degree forgery, interfering with an officer and conspiracy.
Suarez faces the same charges, except for manufacturing/possessing burglar's tools.
Fernandez and Suarez were each held at Greenwich Police Department on $100,000 bond.
