The Stamford Advocate reported that the collection discovered by police included a mace, a blow gun, a battle ax, a collection of knives and daggers with various handles, a pair of swords including a "'Star Wars'-type sword," a Ruger model 357 Magnum pistol holster, a suspected M-150 and suspected M-200 explosives.

Police had responded to the Hope Street home on a report that 35-year-old Ahmed Abdelhamid had thrown a cell phone at his wife during an argument, the Stamford Advocate reported. He was charged with third-degree assault, risk of injury to a minor and disorderly conduct, according to the Stamford Advocate.

Abdelhamid's lawyer said that his client is a weapons collector, and had never used or threatened to use the weapons, the Stamford Advocate said. The weapons were confiscated by police following his arrest, according to the Stamford Advocate.
