Jahkim McGhee of 544 Locust Ave. in Port Chester pled guilty earlier Wednesday to first-degree manslaughter in the brutal stabbing death of Anthony Guglielmo, a 54-year-old plumber, during a home invasion.

McGhee was indicted in October 2014 as reported here by Daily Voice.

“For over two years, Port Chester police and prosecutors relentlessly worked this case," McCarty said in a press statement. "While initial speculation focused on the victim’s daughter. . . detectives developed information that defendant was involved."

Over the next two years, investigators interviewed and reinterviewed McGhee, McCarty said. "Finally, defendant admitted to climbing in the window of the victim’s home and stabbing the victim as he was sleeping,” McCarty said.

At about 5:30 a.m. on Sept. 11, 2011, Port Chester police received a 911 call of a burglary in progress at 235 Mortimer St. and that a person had been stabbed. The emergency call was made by Guglielmo’s then 14-year-old daughter, Nicole, who stated that her father had been stabbed by an intruder.

Police and local Emergency Medical Services personnel responded and found the victim lying on the floor of the living room in a massive pool of blood. A large butcher knife was on the floor and Guglielmo had a stab wound to the chest.

It was later discovered that during 2010 and early 2011, the victim and his daughter had lived in an apartment across the street from McGhee.

During defendant’s plea before the Judge Barbara Zambelli, who has made a sentence promise of at least 20 years in state prison, McGhee admitted to acting alone when he stabbed Guglielmo, according to the District Attorney's Office.

McGhee's sentencing is scheduled to take place on Sept. 6.
