14-Year-Old Hit By Car Near New Canaan High School

This story has been updated: NEW CANAAN, Conn. -- A 14-year-old boy suffered leg injuries after he was hit by a car Monday morning near New Canaan High School, the New Canaan Advertiser reported.

The boy was hit while attempting to cross Farm Road after getting out of a parent's car at about 7:30 a.m. in an attempt to avoid a typical traffic backups at the school, Sgt. Carol Ogrinc told the Advertiser.

The boy “darted” across the oncoming lane of traffic toward the high school parking lot, the Advertiser said.

The vehicle that hit him pulled over and remained at the scene, the Advertiser said. The student was transported to Norwalk Hospital.

This is the second person hit by a car in town in the past day. A bicyclist was hit on Smith Ridge, in front of the New Canaan Field Club, on Sunday afternoon, Oct. 5.
