Greenwich Letter: Vote Peter Sherr For Board Of Education

GREENWICH, Conn. -- The Greenwich Daily Voice accepts signed letters to the editor. Send letters to greenwich@dailyvoice.com.

To The Editor:

I am voting in the Greenwich Town Elections. I will be voting for Peter Sherr for the Board of Education because he is a candidate who has demonstrated the courage and integrity to buck irresponsible “party politics” in the interests of a better educational system for all Greenwich children.

I hope you will join me in returning Peter Sherr to his rightful place on the Board of Education.

Peter, like many others, recognizes that a “great” educational system is the magnet that attracts people of all racial and ethnic backgrounds to Greenwich.  Immigrants who have landed on our shores have all sought a better education for their children. Ask yourself: Do you want to compromise the Greenwich educational system for our children and grandchildren to facilitate some dated social re-engineering project run amok?

If Greenwich cannot be a beacon of academic excellence, families of all racial and ethnic backgrounds will find other communities that embrace the challenge.   Failure to insist on superior academic achievement will be catastrophic for Greenwich: A compromised educational system leads to declining property values. Is this the type of community where you want to bring up your family?

I vote as an independent. I have no political ax to wield, but when the school system is used as a bargaining chip to promote some silly notion of party loyalty, I must take exception.

Vote Peter Sherr and rest assured that the Greenwich educational system is in good hands regardless of your party affiliation.
