Greenwich Letter: Class Dads for Bernstein for Board of Education

Greenwich, Conn. -- The Greenwich Daily Voice accepts signed letters to the editor. Send letters to greenwich@dailyvoice.com.

To the Editor:

Together we served as Class Dads with Peter Bernstein for our children's kindergarten class. The way we saw it, it took three Class Dads to equal one Class Mom.

One of the first things we did was to sit and meet with the teacher and find out her expectations and learn what we could do to help. It was extremely insightful to learn how the school functions and that insight will serve Peter well.

Peter leveraged his role as Class Dad and was elected as the PTA President at Hamilton Avenue School the following year.  His PTA leadership was so effective that he even managed to persuade one of us to join the board. He worked hard to make sure that the PTA was sustainable and drove outreach to parents and the community.

Together the three of us also coached youth soccer. We experienced the kids all moving in different directions at the start of the season and our ultimate goal was to get them to work together. Peter brings this same goal to serving on the Board of Education.

We strongly support Peter Bernstein for the Greenwich Board of Education and ask that you vote for the Class Dad on Nov. 5..
