Dear friends:
Our state budget will be determined Wednesday at midnight. As you may recall, the original State Budget Proposal called for significant and devastating cuts in the arts and culture sector. Although the current Recommended State Budget includes some restoration of arts funding, right now legislators are facing enormous pressure from the governor's office to scale back this restored funding in order to minimize the tax increases required to pay for it.
That's where you come in. Please help us to advocate for the arts, and arts and culture state funding, before the State Budget goes to a vote. Please call the Governor's Office, the Speaker of the House and Senate President with this simple message: Please continue to support funding for the arts - at pre-cut, restoration levels.
Names and numbers are listed below for your convenience:
Speaker of the House Brendan Sharkey: (800)-842-1902
Senate President Martin Looney: (800)-842-1420
Gov. Dannel Malloy: (800)-406-1527
Thank you, from all of us here at the Bruce, for joining us in advocating for the arts.
