GREENWICH, Conn. - William R. Desmond, of Greenwich and Plum Island, Mass., died July 8. He was 83.
Desmond was the son of William V. and Jessie Mae (Talbot) Desmond. He was raised and educated in Greenwich and a vVeteran of the US Navy serving during the Korean War. He was a career-long union electrician for the IBEW Local 103 of Boston until his retirement in 1995.
Desmond is survived by his wife, Maureen A. (Reynolds) Desmond of Groveland, Mass.; sons, Dennis Desmond Sr. and Kevin Desmond; three grandchildren; and sister, Jean B. Desmond of Greenwich. He was predeceased by his parents.
Calling hours are Thursday, July 11 from 3 to 7 p.m. in the Driscoll Funeral Home, 309 So. Main St., Haverhill, Mass. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, July 12 in St. John the Baptist Church, Haverhill, Mass. Burial with navy honors will follow in St. James Cemetery.
