William J. DePra, 86, Retired Detective From Greenwich Police Department

NEW MILFORD, Conn. - William J. DePra of New Milford died Tuesday, Nov. 4. He was 86.

DePra was born March 4, 1928, in Greenwich, to Valentino and Ella (Bako) DePra. He served with the U.S. Army Air Corps. He retired from the Greenwich Police Department as detective after 29 years of service. He was a member of the American Legion Post #31 in New Milford.

DePra is survived by his daughter, Deborah A. Yantorno of Brookfield; four grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and sisters, Margaret Valenti of Greenwich, and Bernice Carroll of Riverside. He was also predeceased by his parents; wife, Patricia (Donnelly); and five siblings.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 6 at St. Francis Xavier Church in New Milford. Interment will follow in St. Francis Cemetery in New Milford.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of DePra may be made to the American LegionĀ Ezra Woods Post #31 , 377 Kent Road, New Milford.
