William B. Osgood, 78, Of Riverside, Owned William B Osgood Associates

RIVERSIDE, Conn. - William Broadwell Osgood of Riverside died Thursday, Sept. 4. He was 78.

Osgood was born in Birmingham, Mich. in 1936, moved with his family to Old Greenwich in 1943 and spent much of his life in Greenwich. He was a graduate of Greenwich High School. He attended Cornell University where he earned a BA in Economics in 1958. After college he joined the U.S. Air Force for three years. He then moved back to Old Greenwich and went to work for Johnson Controls, eventually starting his own HVAC contracting company, William B. Osgood Associates. After selling his company he worked for Werner Tietjen Associates in Rye, N.Y for several years.

After retirement he became a volunteer for Community Answers and Greenwich Green and Clean. He was a member of the Retired Men's Association.

Osgood is survived by his wife, Joan Schladermundt Osgood; daughters, Deborah Osgood, Cheryl Osgood Larsen, and Claire Ellis Osgood; five grandchildren; sister-in-law, Susan Ulseth; and a nephew and a niece.

A celebration of his life will take place at 3 p.m. Friday, Nov. 28 at the First Congregational Church in Old Greenwich.
