Walter J. Quinn, 80, Of Greenwich; Air Force Vet Worked For Post Office

STAMFORD, Conn. -- Walter J Quinn, 80, of Stamford died on Feb. 7. He also resided in Greenwich.

Walter was born one of four children to Frances and Martin Quinn. He graduated from Stamford High School and served honorably in the Korean War and Japanese Occupation while serving in the U.S. Air Force. He returned to the United States and married Mary Lou Conlan of Greenwich.

Walter worked for several years as a letter carrier for the Post Office in Greenwich and as the president of Branch 759 of the Letter Carrier Union in Greenwich. An avid sports fan, he enjoyed watching his beloved New York Giants, Rangers and Mets.

Walter was preceded in death by his wife Mary Lou and daughters Marion McMahon, Tara Gleason, and Maura Jean. He is survived by his children Susan Matsen (Douglas), Brian Quinn (Karen), Colleen Reardon, Nancy Ryan (Michael), Keith Quinn (Christine), Kelly Costanzo (Steve), and Kerry Quinn (Mike) and sons-in-law Scott McMahon and Sean Gleason. He is also survived by 19 grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 12 at Castiglione Funeral Home, 134 Hamilton Ave. in Greenwich. A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 13 at St. Mary's Church, 178 Greenwich Ave. Interment will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery, 399 North St. in Greenwich.
