Vivian J. Roth, 90, Former Greenwich Resident

PORT CHESTER, N.Y. - Vivian Joye Roth, a longtime resident of Port Chester, formerly of Greenwich, died July 4. She was 90.

Roth was born May 24, 1924, in Greenwich, Conn., to Paddy and Caroline Joye. She graduated from Greenwich High School and shortly after began her first position at Franklin Simons department store in Greenwich, Conn. She then worked at Saks Fifth Avenue and finally as a window dresser for Barricini Candies. When her husband founded Roth Nursery with his brother Edward in 1948 in Armonk, she managed the bookkeeping for the growing business. She was a member of the Saint Paul's Lutheran Church in Rye Brook.

Vivian and Walter began their family with 5 children, which continues to grow with 9 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. She fulfilled her dream of having a large family whom she guided with love and strength.

Roth is survived by her children, Walter C. Roth (Suzanne), Thomas W. Roth (Diane), Karl D. Roth, Patricia J. Quell (Frederick), Karen G. Hodge (Cliff); nine grandchildren; and three great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Walter C. Roth.

Calling hours are from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, July 7 at Craft Memorial Home, Inc. Funeral Service will be 10 a.m. Tuesday July 8 at Saint Paul's Lutheran Church, 761 King St. at Comley Ave., Rye Brook, NY 10573. Interment to follow at Greenwood Union Cemetery Rye.

Memorial donations may be made to Saint Paul's Lutheran Church.
