Violet Mae Carino, 98, Of Greenwich, Fawcett Publications Employee

GREENWICH, Conn. - Violet Mae Carino of Greenwich died Sept. 8. She was 98.

Carino was born Oct. 8, 1914, in Berlin, N.H., to Thomas Nickerson and Agnes O'Keefe Nickerson. She graduated from Windsor Vermont High School and Bay Path Institute. Wartime employment brought her to Bridgeport, Conn. She was a longtime resident of Greenwich. She was employed by Fawcett Publications for many years. She was involved in local senior citizen groups. She was a longtime parishioner of Sacred Heart Church in Byram.

Carino is survived by her sons, Richard (Grace) of Shelton, David (Lynne) of Sandy Hook and Alex (Petra) of Stratford; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents; husband, Alexander Carino; brother, Theodore Nickerson; and sister, Leona Berry.

Services were private at the request of the family.
