Thomas S. Knight Jr., 83, Of Greenwich, Retired Executive With E.B. Wilson

GREENWICH, Conn. - Thomas S. Knight Jr. of Greenwich died Sunday, May 4. He was 83.

Knight was born May 9, 1930, in Rochester, N.Y. He graduated from Phillips Exeter Academy in 1948 and went on to Princeton University, graduating in 1952. He served in Korea during the war as a second lieutenant in the U.S. Army with the 555th Field Artillery Battalion.

Upon his return from duty, he began a career in advertising with Young & Rubicam in New York, where he was as an account executive for over 20 years ultimately retiring from advertising with the firm E. B. Wilson. In addition he was a board member of PNC New England Bank.

He was on the Board of Directors of the Round Hill Club and the Trout and Salmon Foundation. He spent time with several charitable organizations, including St. James Church in Manhattan and became president of the Rector's Council, Portsmouth Abbey School where he was a member of the Board of Regents, the United Way of Greenwich, and the YMCA of Greenwich. He co-founded the Orbis International with Dr. David Paton.

Knight is survived by his wife, Kathleen Craig; sons, T. Spencer Knight III, George C. Knight, James E. Knight, and Peter A. Knight, as well as their wives Patricia, Meghan, Alison and Samantha; and 12 grandchildren.

Calling hours are Thursday, May 8, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Leo P. Gallagher & Son Funeral Home,  31 Arch St., Greenwich. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 9, at St. Michael's Parish, 469 North St., Greenwich.
