Sylvia Weiss, 96, Longtime Greenwich Resident

GREENWICH, Conn. - Sylvia Weiss, a resident of Greenwich for 68 years, died May 15. She was 96.

Weiss was born Dec. 7, 1916, in Bridgeport, daughter of Harry and Anna Silverstone. Her family owned and operated the Favorite Shoe Store on Greenwich Avenue. She was a member of Temple Sholom, a life member of Hadassah, and a volunteer at Greenwich Hospital for many years.

Weiss is survived by daughter, Ricky (Joe) Arcade of Greenwich; a grandson; and two great granddaughters. She was predeceased by her parents; husband, Emanuel "Dan" Weiss; and brothers, Marvin and Norman Silverstone.

A graveside service will be held at 12:30 p.m. Friday, May 17 at Temple Sholom Cemetery, Memory Lane (off Riversville Road), Greenwich.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to one’s favorite charity or Project Ezra c/o Temple Sholom.
