Salvatore Longo Jr., 85, Cos Cob Contractor

GREENWICH, Conn. – Salvatore J. Longo Jr. of the Cos Cob section of Greenwich died Oct. 22, surrounded by his family after a prolonged battle with cancer. He was 85. 

Born Sept. 23, 1927, in Greenwich, he was the son of Salvatore R. Longo Sr. and Carbina Pedwano Longo. He was the original owner and proprietor of Sal Longo and Sons contracting company from 1940 to 1995. 

Longo is survived by his wife, Marie Lorenti Longo; three children, Anthony J. (Kathy) Longo, Louise (Dennis Sr.) DellaPietro and Salvatore J. Longo III; a brother, Anthony J. Longo; a sister, Eleanor Lodato; and eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a sister, Louise Romanchock. 

Visitation is from 4 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Lacerenza Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Stamford. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at noon Friday at St. Catherine of Siena Church in Riverside. Entombment will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery in Greenwich.
