Roland J. Tiso Sr., 93, Railroad Employee In Cos Cob

RYE BROOK, N.Y. -- Roland J. Tiso Sr., 93, a resident of Rye Brook, died Tuesday, Sept. 8. 

He was born Nov. 18, 1921, in Mount Vernon to the late Vincenzo and Anna Ianaro Tiso. He graduated from Mount Vernon High School. 

Tiso served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was married to the late Nancy Varo, who died Nov. 19, 2012. 

He was a boilermaker for New Haven Railroad at the Cos Cob power plant. He retired in 1986. 

He was a parishioner of Corpus Christi Church in Port Chester. 

He is survived by his sons, Vincent Tiso and wife Lori of Iowa Falls, Iowa, retired Army Col. Roland Tiso Jr. and wife Judi of Tampa, Fla., and Robert Tiso and wife Francine of Stamford, Conn.; a brother, Frank Tiso and wife Lucy of Eastchester; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. 

Besides his wife, he was predeceased by his brothers John, Remo, Anthony and Marco Tiso. 

Visitation will be 5-9 p.m. Friday, Sept. 11, at Craft Memorial Home Inc. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 12, Corpus Christi Church, 136 S. Regent St., Port Chester, NY. Entombment to follow at Saint Mary's Cemetery Rye Brook.
