BONITA SPRINGS, Fla. - Rocco "Rocky" Joseph and Heidy Edith (Stoeckle) Urso of Bonita Springs and formerly of Greenwich, Conn., died in a car crash Dec. 17. He was 80, and she was 76.
Rocky was born Feb. 9, 1933, in Riverside, Conn., to Oscar and Carmella (Chiapetta) Urso. He attended local primary schools and after graduating from Greenwich High School in 1951, he served in the U.S. Air Force.
Heidy was born Aug. 23, 1937, in New York City to Rudolf and Charlotte (Scheibner) Stoeckle. She attended local primary schools and was a graduate of Greenwich High School, Class of 1955.
Heidy and Rocky were residents of Greenwich. Rocky owned the Cheese Shop, a successful gourmet cheese store in White Plains, N.Y., until 1977, when the family moved to Manchester, Vt. Rocky and Heidy obtained real estate licenses and purchased Walker Realty. In 1989, they sold the real estate business and owned the Kirkside Motor Lodge in Bennington, Vt., until 1999, when they retired to Citrus Park in Bonita Springs.
Rocky and Heidy are survived by their children, Joan Heidy (Urso) McGovern (Robert) of Malden, Mass., Tina Lynn Urso (Brian Goldstein) of Seattle, and David Christopher Urso (Carol) of Quechee, Vt.; and six grandchildren.
There will be no calling hours. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 28, at Putnam Cemetery in Greenwich.
