GREENWICH, Conn. - Robert Callahan, a longtime Greenwich resident, died Monday, Nov. 17. He was 91.
Callahan was born June 4, 1923, in Elmora, Pa. Following military service in the Pacific during World War II as a lieutenant pilot in the Army Air Corps, he graduated from St. Francis College in Loretto, Pennsylvania with degrees in accounting and philosophy. He was an executive in the paper industry for over 40 years. He was employed by Abitibi Paper Company in Dayton, Ohio and later became president, Pulp and Paper Sales at Mead Paper Company. In 1972 he founded Callahan Associates, a pulp and paper brokerage consulting business with offices at Greenwich Plaza and One Landmark Square in Stamford. He was a member at St. Michael the Archangel church.
Callahan is survived by his children, Michael, Ann, Patricia and Paul; and six grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, Mary Ann (née Thieman).
Calling hours are Friday, Nov. 21 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Knapp Funeral Home and a funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 22 at St. Mary's Church.
