Reverend Thomas Merton Rymph, 83, Of Greenwich, Pastor, Greenwich Parish

GREENWICH, Conn. - Reverend Thomas Merton Rymph died Aug. 10. He was 83.

Rev. Rymph was born Aug. 15, 1930, in Wichita, Kansas, to Levi and Jessie. He attended Wichita North High School. He attended Wichita State and graduated in 1951. During his graduation year, he married Jackie in Wichita at First Methodist Church and they moved to Boston, he to attend Boston Theological Seminary and Jackie continued her studies at BU.

After receiving his seminary degree, he set about his career in the United Church of Christ. His first transplant after Boston was to Anthony, Kansas. Starting in 1956, he served his congregation in Wichita.

Rev. Rymph was then called to serve in Omaha, Nebraska, in 1967. In 1975, he began work with the parish in Greenwich. He served there for 16 years. He was made Minister Emeritus in Greenwich. He retired in 1991 to Wit's End, and returned to Greenwich to give one last sermon

Rev. Rymph is survived by his wife, Jacqueline; children, Douglas, Deborah (Geoff) and Thomas; four grandchildren; and brothers, Bert, Raymond, and David. He was predeceased by his father.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 7 at the Second Congregational Church in Greenwich.
