GREENWICH, Conn. - Raymond Richard Leary of Greenwich died Monday, May 27. He was 73.
Leary was born July 11, 1939, in Port Chester, N.Y. to Eileen (Mulvaney) Leary of Lecanto, Fla. and William A. Leary. He graduated from Port Chester High School and joined the U.S. Coast Guard. Upon discharge he was then a member of the Allied Workers Local 91; he was the owner of RWI until he had to take an early retirement. He was a volunteer in the Washington Park Fire Company for over 40 years until his illness prevented service. He was a participant in the building of the new Saint Paul's R.C. Church on Sherwood Avenue.
Leary is survived by his wife, Cecelia Ann Drury of White Plains; children, Eileen (Charles) Rich of Georgia, Michael of Armonk, Patrick of New York City and Kathleen (Richard) Mathes of Ridgefield; eight grandchildren; brother, William (Donna) Leary of Florida; many nieces and nephews; and cousins. He was predeceased by his father, William A. Leary.
Calling hours are Friday, May 31 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Leo P. Gallagher & Son Funeral Home 31 Arch St., in Greenwich. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 1 at St. Paul R.C. Church 84 Sherwood Ave., in Greenwich. Burial will be followed at St. Mary/Putnam Cemetery in Greenwich.
