Penny MacDonald, 79, Lifelong Greenwich Resident

GREENWICH, Conn. – Penelope "Penny" Ann Theresa Kane MacDonald, a lifelong resident of Greenwich, died suddenly on June 26. She was 79. 

MacDonald was a member of the Oriental Brush Artist's Guild, YWCA Aqua Aerobics and Greenwich Senior Center. 

The daughter of Thomas and Catherine Barrett Kane, she was born Aug. 5, 1932, in Greenwich. MacDonald was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Rye Brook, N.Y. She was married to George Alphonsus MacDonald, who predeceased her. 

MacDonald is survived by three sons, Michael MacDonald, of Greenwich, Peter (Cindy) MacDonald, of Port Orange, Fla., and Paul (Diana) MacDonald, of Ridgefield; a daughter, Kit (Scott) Grant, of Stamford; two sisters, Mary Russell and Patsy Jura; four grandchildren and a great-granddaughter. She was predeceased by a son, George, and a sister, Kathleen Gospodinoff.

Friends and family may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Fred D. Knapp and Son Funeral Home in Greenwich. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Rye Brook.
