BOCA RATON, Fla. - Merrill Edison of Boca Raton, formerly of Greenwich, Conn., died Dec. 5. He was 92.
Edison was born July 2, 1922, to Gertrude and Harry Edison. He was a graduate of James Madison High School in Brooklyn, N.Y., and The Julliard School of Music in New York City. After graduating from Julliard, he continued his path in music and performed for many years with the Westchester Philharmonic Symphony in New York and the Broward Symphony in Florida playing first trumpet in both. He served in World War II in the Army Air Corps band entertaining servicemen. He owned Montclair Furniture Company.
Edison is survived by his wife, Sandra Lewis Edison; children, Leslie (Calvin) Lampert, Robert, and Adam; daughter-in-law, Suzanne Edison; five grandchildren; three great grand-daughters. He was predeceased by his first wife, Joan Edison; and son, Bill Edison.
A Memorial Service was held Sunday, Dec. 7 at the Boca Pointe Country Club in Boca Raton, Florida. Funeral service and interment will be held at 12:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 21 at Sharon Gardens Cemetery in Valhalla, N.Y.
