Leonard was born Jan. 1, 1934, in New York, N.Y. Raised in Darien, he was a graduate of Boston University and served in the U.S. Army. He later settled in Old Greenwich, where he was a member of the community as well as at St Clements Church in Stamford, where he was a eucharistic minister. Upon retiring to Palm Bay in 1992, he was involved within his condominium's community and was president of the Association.
Leonard is survived by his son, Melvin Leonard III of St Petersburg; and brother, Daniel Leonard of Denver. He was predeceased by his wife, Judith Leonard.
