GREENWICH, Conn. – Mary Hubbard Price Werner, formerly of Greenwich, died Feb. 9 in Greensboro, N.C. She was 83.
Werner was born in Greenwich to Mary Alice Houston Hubbard and Henry Dewitt Hubbard of Riverside. She attended Greenwich Academy and completed her nursing degree at Green Mountain College of Vermont and St. Luke’s Hospital of New York.
She set aside her nursing career to follow her husband, Bob Price, in his career with General Motors. She lived in Lima, Peru, Antwerp, Belgium, Berne, Switzerland, Port Elizabeth, South Africa, Harpenden, England, and North Eastham, Cape Cod, before returning to Greenwich.
Werner was widowed in 1987 at the age of 58. In 1997, she married Bill Werner, a retired General Motors executive and widower.
She is survived by her husband, Bill; four children, Diane Platt, of Washington, D.C., Suzanne (Yves) Marchand, of Lausanne, Switzerland, Barbara (Dan) Caffrey, of Greensboro, and Robert (Sandra) Price, of Tustin, Calif; a sister, Margaret “Peggy” (Garry) Higgins; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; as well as her husband’s four children and eight grandchildren.
She was predeceased by a brother, Robert “Bobbie” Hubbard, in 1934.
Wener will be buried next to her parents and brother in Old Greenwich. Hanes-Lineberry Funeral Home in Greensboro is handling arrangements.
