Mark Brooks Bollman, Jr., 88, Longtime Greenwich Resident

GREENWICH, Conn. - Mark Brooks Bollman, Jr. of Greenwich died Saturday, Sept. 14. He was 88.

Bollman was born Aug. 24, 1925, son of Mark and Esther Bollman of Meriden. He graduated with honors from Princeton University in 1949 class of 1947 and then from Harvard Business School in 1951. He served in the army in World War II and was wounded in the Battle of the Bulge in 1944, receiving the Purple Heart award. He was a member of Milbrook Club, Stanwich Club, the Horseneck Club, and Clinton Country Club in Clinton. He was a Greenwich resident for 45 years.

Bollman had a career in advertising and marketing beginning at McCann Erickson in 1951 and retiring from N.W. Ayer in 1995. He lived in Atlanta twice, managing advertising agencies there for a total of eight years. For three years in the early 1960's he managed Afamal, an Interpublic advertising agency in Johannesburg, South Africa. For five years following his retirement from N.W. Ayer he ran his own public relations company, M&B Communications.

Bollman is survived by his wife, Barbara; sons, M. Brooks Bollman III of Atlanta and his partner, Roseli Ribeiro, Dick Bollman of Darien (Jean Ann) and Steve Bollman of Fairfield (Sarah); seven grandchildren; sister, Harriet Bollman Oman (Robert) of Lebanon, N.H.; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents.

A memorial service is planned at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 5 at Christ Church in Greenwich.
