Margarita Serrell McGrath, 72, Of Greenwich, Nurse At Greenwich Hospital

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. - Margarita "Quita" Serrell McGrath of Scottsdale, Arizona died  April 13, 2013. She was 72.

McGrath was born May 27, 1941, to Dr. Howard P. and Margarita N. Serrell in Greenwich. She was a graduate of the Oldfields School in Glencoe, Md. She pursued nursing at the Greenwich Hospital Nursing School. After graduation, she joined Frontier Nursing Service in Kentucky to provide care for the poor in Appalachia. She then returned to the Greenwich Hospital, often working in the same operating room as her father.

McGrath is survived by daughter, Margarita McGrath of Brooklyn, N.Y.; son, Pastor Tyler McGrath of Scottsdale, Ariz.; three grandchildren; brother, Howard P. Serrell; and sister, Patricia S. Schmeltzer, both of Greenwich. She was predeceased by her parents; husband, James F. McGrath; and brother, Jonathan D. Serrell.

There will be a memorial service, conducted by her son, Pastor McGrath, Friday, July 19 at the Round Hill Community Church in Greenwich at 10 a.m. Friends and family will be invited to share stories to celebrate McGrath's life. Burial will be private.
