Margaret Murphy, 47, Radiologist, Lifelong Greenwich Resident

GREENWICH, Conn. - Margaret (Marge, Maggie) Murphy, a lifelong Greenwich resident, died Saturday March 23. She was 47.

Murphy was born Feb. 17, 1966, daughter of John “Jack” and Margaret “Peggy” Murphy. She lived her entire life in Greenwich.

Murphy attended St. Mary’s and St. Catherine’s grammar schools, Greenwich Catholic Middle School and graduated from St. Mary’s High School in 1984. She was captain of the cheerleading team. She received a degree from Sacred Heart University, and later graduated from the Stamford Hospital Radiography Program.

Murphy was a licensed radiology technologist in both New York and Connecticut. She worked as an X-Ray and MRI technician at Lawrence Hospital in Bronxville, NY, Greenwich, Stamford and Norwalk Hospitals. She volunteered at the Shelter for the Homeless in Stamford.

Murphy is survived by Patrick (Sue) Murphy, Tim (Betsy) Murphy, Mary Ellen (Frank) Currivan, Thomas Murphy and Michelle (John) Breen; many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her brother, John.

Calling hours are from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, April 1 at the Castiglione Funeral Home, 134 Hamilton Ave. in Greenwich. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 2 at St. Mary’s Church, 178 Greenwich Ave., Greenwich.
