Louise Micik, 89, Of Greenwich

GREENWICH, Conn. – Louise Magarone Micik of Byram died Tuesday, Oct. 9, at Greenwich Hospital. She was 89.

Micik was born Sept. 16, 1923, in Greenwich to Angelina Capuano and Dominick Magarone. She lived in Chickahominy most of her life before moving to Byram in 1980. Shortly after World War II, she met John Micik, a private first class in the Army's 818th Tank Destroyer Battalion.

They married May 17, 1947, at St. Roch's Church and recently celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary. During World War II, Micik worked at S&K in Port Chester, making uniforms for soldiers. She also worked at Life Savers and the Ruwe Pencil Factory.

Micik was a lifelong parishioner of St. Roch's and a volunteer for the church, school and annual feast. She was also a member of St. Ann's Sodality and the Women's Auxiliary of the 818th Tank Destroyer Battalion, having served as president in 1996.

She was an avid supporter of the Maryknoll and Byram Vets and a member of the Chickahominy Phone Club. Her greatest joy was being with her family. She enjoyed attending Army reunions, walking and babysitting.

Micik is survived by her husband, John; three sons, John (Marilyn) Micik, of Virginia, James (Joy) Micik, of Greenwich, and David (Marie) Micik, of Greenwich; a sister, Carmela Micik, of Milford, Conn.; a brother-in-law, Nick Lagronegro, of Greenwich; six grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two brothers, Rico and Michael Magarone; and two sisters, Rose Magarone and Viola Lagrenegro.

Calling hours are from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Castiglione Funeral Home in Greenwich. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Roch's Church in Greenwich. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery in Greenwich.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Roch's Church, 10 St. Roch Ave., Greenwich, or Nathaniel Witherell Patient Trust Fund, 70 Parsonage Road, Greenwich, CT 06830.
