Louise Hipkins, 87, Former Greenwich Resident

GRANBY, Conn. - Louise (Cowles) Hipkins of Granby, and formerly of Greenwich, died Saturday, Oct. 18. She was 87.

Hipkins was born June 20, 1927, in N.Y., N.Y., to Ernest Francis and Katherine (DeVoe) Cowles. She had spent her entire life in Greenwich before moving to Granby eight years ago. She was a member of the Belle Haven Club. She also volunteered for many years for the American Red Cross.

Hipkins is survived by her sons, Clifton Russel Hipkins (Celia) of Bedford Hills, N.Y., David DeVoe Hipkins (Caroline) of Waterford, Vt., and Stuart Armstrong Hipkins of San Gabriel, Calif.;  daughter, Carol Hipkins of North Granby; brother, Edward Cowles (Jean) of West Hartford; two grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and a great-great grandchild. She was predeceased by her parents; and husband, Clifton Hart Hipkins.

Burial will be private in the St. Paul's Episcopal Church Columbarium, Greenwich.
