Linda DeMarkey, 73, Greenwich Resident

GREENWICH, Conn. -- Linda Venuti DeMarkey, a Greenwich resident, died Sept. 14. She was 73.

DeMarkey was born in Mount Vernon, N.Y. on Oct. 11, 1941. 

She lived in Tuckahoe for 21 years with her parents, Anthony and Victoria Venut,i and her sister, Barbara Venuti Dorr, who all predeceased her. She raised her family in Greenwich.

DeMarkey was a graduate of the Ursuline School in New Rochelle and completed her bachelor's degree at Sacred Heart University in Bridgeport. She attained a master's degree at Fordham University Graduate School of Religion and Religious Education.

She began her ministry as a director of religious education. After retiring she would go on to work in other parishes as well as a consultant for the Department of Education evaluating religion programs in Catholic Schools.

She is survived by her husband, Joseph; three children; and eight grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, Sept.16, at Castiglione Funeral Home, 544 Old Post Road #3, Greenwich, from 4 to 8 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, Sept. 17, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul's Catholic Church, 84 Sherwood Ave., Greenwich. Interment to follow at St. Mary Cemetery, 399 North St.
