Leonard J. LaLuna Sr., 66, Retired Greenwich Firefighter

GREENWICH, Conn. — Leonard J. LaLuna, Sr., 66, of East Haven, died Thursday, May 26, 2016 at his home surrounded by his family.

He was the husband of Linda S. Bauer LaLuna.

LaLuna was born Nov. 6, 1949, in Greenwich, to the late Louis Joseph and Marguerite Wesley LaLuna Sr. He worked for the Town of Greenwich in the fire department for 21 years. His career began as a fireman and concluded as the fire inspector in the fire marshall division his last six years, retiring in 1993. 

He was a past president and president emeritus for his local Union #1042. He also ran the local MDA telethon in Stamford for many years, was a member of the Greenwich RTM during the mid to late 1980s and for 20 years after his fire career he worked with AFSCME Council 4 as a staff representative. 

Besides his wife, he is survived by two sons, Leonard J. LaLuna Jr., (fiance' Gina Johnson) of Stamford and Lance J. LaLuna of Rye Brook, N.Y.; two daughters, Kimberly J. LaLuna-Berumen, (husband Edmundo Berumen) of Mexico City, Mexico and Laura J. LaLuna Mattes, (husband Robert Mattes) of Middletown, N.J; two step-sons, Michael A. Campbell of Derby and Zachary D. Campbell of East Haven; a step-daughter, Caitlyn E. Campbell of East Haven; two brothers, Lee J. LaLuna of Ocala, Fla. and Raymond LaLuna Sr. of Harrison, N.Y.; four grandchildren, Alexandra and Kylie Berumen and Robbie and Jake Mattes; and his former spouse, Bonnie S. LaLuna. 

He was predeceased by two brothers, Louis J. LaLuna Jr. and Lawrence J. LaLuna Sr. 

There will be a funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Corpus Christi Church, 136 S. Regent St., Port Chester, N.Y. Burial services will be private and at the convenience of the family. 

Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at the East Haven Memorial Longobardi-Brennan Funeral Home, 425 Main St., East Haven and from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Tutera Funeral Home, 121 S. Regent St., Port Chester, N.Y.
