Karina Saari, Greenwich Native, Dies at 37

GREENWICH, Conn. – Karina Elizabeth Saari, a Greenwich native, died July 24 after a battle with cancer. She was 37. 

Born May 10, 1975, in Greenwich, she was the daughter of Len and Yanna Saari. She attended Greenwich public schools, Choate Rosemary Hall, Middlebury College, Rhode Island School of Design and SUNY Purchase. 

She was an enthusiastic participant in team sports throughout her life, her family said. Saari enjoyed lacrosse, field hockey, squash, tennis, basketball, ice hockey, swimming and softball. She also loved skiing, horseback riding, golf and singing. Most recently, she was a member of a U.S. Tennis Association team. 

Saari worked in administration at CPG Architects in Stamford, according to her LinkedIn profile. 

She is survived by her parents, Len and Yanna, of Riverside; a sister, Allison Saari (Josh) Byrne, of Boston. 

There will be a memorial service at 11 a.m. Aug. 25, at First Congregational Church of Greenwich. Leo P. Gallagher and Son Funeral Home in Greenwich is handling the arrangements.
