John W. Lynn, 92, Former Greenwich Resident, CEO Woolworth Corporation

BOCA RATON, Fla. - John W. (Bud) Lynn, formerly of Greenwich, died Nov. 25. He was 92.

Lynn was born March 4, 1921, in Brooklyn, N.Y.; son of Tom and Olga Lynn. He graduated from Jamaica High School and attended Syracuse University from 1939 to 1941. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II. He received the Purple Heart and air medal with 8 oak leaf clusters, for his 46 missions. He began his career with the F.W. Woolworth Co. He retired as Chairman of the Board and CEO of the Woolworth Corporation Worldwide. He served on the board of directors for Borden Inc., F.W. Woolworth Ltd. Canada, Woolworth Mexicana, Kinney shoes and Foot Locker.

Lynn and his wife, Adele lived in Greenwich, Conn., for many years. He was a parishioner of St. Agnes Church. After retirement, they moved to Boca Raton, Fla., where he was a parishioner of St. Joan of Arc Church.

Lynn is survived by his wife, Adele Grant Lynn; children, Suzanne Lynn Falkenbush (Richard) South Burlington, Vt., Dianne Lynn Nofi Long Island, N.Y., Robert Grant Lynn (Lottie) Stamford, Conn., J.Thomas Lynn (Julie) New Canaan, Conn.; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren.
