Joan W. Cleworth, 84, Of Greenwich, Former Deaconess

OLD GREENWICH, Conn. - Joan W. Cleworth of Old Greenwich died Tuesday, Jan. 7. She was 84.

Cleworth was born Jan. 19, 1929, in the Bronx, New York; daughter of Winfield F. and Edna (Jackameit) Wilson. She began her professional career as a secretary at Conde Nast in New York City. She was a former deaconess at The First Congregational Church of Greenwich in Old Greenwich.

Cleworth is survived by her sons, Jonathan W. Cleworth of New Canaan, David C. Cleworth (Mary Jane) of Wesley Chapel, Fla., Christopher W. Cleworth (Janet) of Johns Creek, Ga., Timothy J. Cleworth (Lauren) of Schenectady, N.Y.; daughter, Sarah A. Cleworth of Old Greenwich; and six grandchildren.

A memorial service for family members will be held at The First Congregational Church of Greenwich in Old Greenwich at a time to be determined.
