Janet Brooks, 95, Formerly Of Greenwich, Owned The Needlepoint Shop

GLASTONBURY, Conn. - Janet (Newton) Brooks, of Glastonbury, formerly of Greenwich, died July 9. She was 95.

Brooks was born in Greenwich, Conn., daughter of Harold P. and Gwendolyn (Wight) Newton. She was a needlepoint designer and owned and operated The Needlepoint Shop of Greenwich, Conn. She was a long-standing member of the 1st Congregational Church in Old Greenwich, Conn.

Brooks is survived by her identical twin sister, Jean N. Mallory, of Kennebunk, Maine; daughters, Jean Sleath (Robert) of East Hartford, Phyllis Smith (Cotton) of Epping, N.H.; son, Benjamin T. Brooks III (Virginia) of Fortson, Ga.; seven grandchildren; and 10 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Captain Benjamin T. Brooks Jr.

Services and burial are private.
