Jane Rush Jansen, 86, Former Old Greenwich Resident, Member Of The RTM

ST. MICHAEL’S, Md. - Jane Rush Jansen of St. Michaels, formerly of Old Greenwich, Conn., died Wednesday, Sept. 17. She was 86.

Jansen was born Jan. 28, 1928, in Spartanburg, S.C., to Pierce Alexander Rush and Amelia Josephine Price. After graduating from Spartanburg High School, she went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in Education from the University of Tennessee. She earned a Master's Degree in Education from the University of Bridgeport. She taught English for many years at Central Middle School and served as a member of the Representative Town Meeting (RTM) in Greenwich.

After her marriage she lived in Arlington, Va., Chicago, Ill.,and Old Greenwich, Conn. The couple retired to St. Michaels in 1990. She was a member of the Christ Episcopal Church of St. Michaels and the First Congregational Church of Old Greenwich, Conn.

Jansen is survived by her husband, Wally Jansen of St. Michael’s; son, James Lindsey Jansen of Studio City, Calif.; daughter, Jane Jansen Seymour (Paul); and two grandchildren. She was predeceased by her son, Edward Rush Jansen.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 27 at the Ostrosky Funeral Home, 312 S. Talbot St., St. Michaels. Afterwards, there will be a reception in Jane's garden at the house (208 East Chestnut Street). A graveside service of burial will be held in the churchyard at the First Congregational Church in Old Greenwich, Conn., at a future date.
