James Uhl, 48, Stamford Resident

STAMFORD, Conn. -- James John Uhl -- a Stamford resident, formerly of Greenwich -- died on Friday, March 25. He was 48.

Born in Englewood, Uhl graduated from Fox Chapel High School in Pittsburgh and from Ithaca College. "Jim was a tremendous athlete playing football and baseball in high school and a proud member of the Ithaca Bombers football team," according to information from the funeral home.

Uhl started his career at MCI in 1989 and went on to be a successful sales executive with Sprint from 1995 until his illness. "In his adult years, Jim was the most accomplished, average golfer in recent memory." He golfing with with his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Sheila (Keegan) Uhl; children Jackson Vogel and Sadie Eileen; siblings Jody and Jordan; stepmother Pamela; and many in-laws, aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews and nieces.

Uhl was predeceased by his parents, Richard Uhl and Patricia (Morahan) Uhl.

A wake will be held from 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday, March 29, at St. Agnes church in Greenwich. A mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday at St. Agnes church. The Castiglione Funeral Home, in Greenwich, is assisting with arrangements.
